Janae Lykes was raised in Lansing, Michigan. A tomboy at heart, she didn’t fully realize the power of beauty and aesthetics until shortly after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Film & Media Studies at Western Michigan University in 2011.

She stumbled upon her fascination and eventual obsession with lash extensions when she decided to go back to school in 2015 for an Esthetician’s license from Paul Mitchell The School in Austin. As she began to learn the basics, Janae fell in love with lash artistry and was hooked on the instant boost it gave to women from all walks of life.

In 2018, Janae opened a small lash boutique in North Austin and has been building the Cocoa Lash brand ever since. She does this with high-quality products, top of the line professionalism, prompt customer service, continued lash education and four years of lashing experience under her belt.

Cocoa Lash was created to provide a private, high-end experience where the focus of the salon relies on safe lash application with sterile utensils, preserving the health of the natural lash and mostly importantly, making clients feel good about themselves.

Her passion for lashing and making a genuine connection with every client that walks through the door has led to her business’s success and rapidly growing client base of Austin women.

Outside of running Cocoa Lash, Janae enjoys Topo Chico, the Real Housewives franchise, hunting for new music, Ramen Tatsu-Ya, movie nights, thrift shopping, and spending time with her Beagle Daschund mix Beau.
